Harmony with Nature
By Linkexin (Cora) Hou

About

This project integrates four individual residences on a hilly terrain, each featuring semi-open communal spaces on the ground floor. Earth-made seating extends from the homes, encouraging social interaction. A central atrium with a flourishing tree provides shade and a peaceful gathering place, offering respite from the summer heat.

Project Insights

Outdoor Atrium

The central atrium with a flourishing tree creates a serene, shaded gathering space for residents. This natural feature provides a cool retreat from the heat, fostering community interaction while enhancing the outdoor environment with green, calming elements.

Community Bird Eye View

From a bird's eye view, the community layout forms a cohesive whole, with each residence designed to blend naturally into the landscape. The buildings are arranged to take advantage of the terrain’s slow slopes, creating an organic flow that promotes connectivity and accessibility.

Roofs

The roofs are designed to adapt to the hilly terrain, providing functional spaces for rainwater harvesting and natural cooling. Their sloped design ensures efficient water runoff, while also contributing to the overall aesthetic of the community, harmonizing with the surrounding environment.
