Equatorial Living Lab
Welcome to the Equatorial Living Lab, a unique collaboration between Pratt Institute and Fourah Bay College, dedicated to developing sustainable, culturally attuned housing solutions for equatorial regions through global academic partnership.
dProgress
Over the course of four semesters, the Equatorial Living Lab, a vibrant collaboration between Pratt Institute and Fourah Bay College, embarks on an innovative exploration of sustainable, affordable housing solutions tailored for equatorial climates. Centered on the utilization of local materials and ecological practices, our project blends rich traditional knowledge with cutting-edge design methodologies.
This journey is not just about building homes but fostering an ecosystem of learning and sharing, deeply committed to community engagement and open-source development. Each semester unfolds new layers of research, design, preparation, and prototyping, progressively refining our approach to meet both local and global housing challenges. Our diverse team of students and faculty works hand-in-hand, transforming academic insights into real-world applications, aiming to empower communities and inspire global change. Through this project, we aspire to leave a lasting impact, pioneering new ways to address the urgent needs of sustainable living and housing across the tropical belt.
