Human-Centered Layouts
By Jianing Tang

About

This design focuses on flexibility, local materials, and easy construction. By integrating features like straw thatching roofs, rainwater collection, raised furniture, and rammed earth walls, the housing adapts to its environment. The layout encourages community interaction with shared spaces and a humane, non-linear arrangement of homes.

Project Insights

Bird-Eye View Community

The bird's eye view of the community showcases a dynamic, organic distribution of houses, breaking away from the rigid rows of square structures. This design fosters a more humane, interconnected environment, promoting better communication and interaction.

Technical Drawing, Top View

The technical drawings highlight how the use of local materials like rammed earth and straw thatching enhances the build's durability and sustainability. The layout efficiently incorporates rainwater harvesting and raised furniture, adapting to the site’s needs.

Community Lifestyle

The design fosters community living through shared spaces and a layout that encourages interaction. The cluster-based approach allows for flexible, expandable living, giving residents the freedom to shape their spaces while remaining connected.
